Rising Attacks On Security Agents Editorial
Data obtained from the Council on Foreign Relations’ Nigeria Security Tracker , a website that tracks violent incidents related to political, economic, and social grievances directed at the state or other affiliated groups said non- state killed 138 policemen in eight months in Nigeria in 2022. And that is a country not officially at war.In the considered opinion of this Newspaper, the recent killings of security agents in Nigeria is a cause for serious concern .
One possible solution would be to increase the resources and training available to security agents. This could include providing better equipment and weapons, as well as training in the latest tactics and techniques for dealing with terrorist groups and other criminal elements. Also, efforts must be made to combat corruption and improve governance at all levels, as these issues are deeply intertwined with the problem of violence and insecurity.
