Some civil rights activists have commended the Police Service Commission for the recent promotion of police officers in the service.

“But we do not also support political promotion whereby other police officers who have been due for promotion are being denied because of the way the system has become very rotten. Everything does not have to do with settlements.”

Nwanguma said, “The recent police promotions announced by the PSC appear to me like a routine exercise. From the report, it would appear that there were vacancies to be filled with the retirement or death of some senior officers previously occupying those ranks. “When any officer retires or dies, the next in seniority is usually promoted to fill the vacant slot for the zone. And when that happens, it often has a multiplier effect. It creates other vacancies down the line.
