Following the completion of the redistribution of electoral boundaries, the federal Liberals have started consulting riding associations across the country to come up with final rules on how to allocate financial resources among the rejigged constituencies.
Usually, political parties leave it up to MPs to decide where each person wants to run. But sometimes there are situations where two MPs representing adjacent ridings would prefer to run in the same riding. In these kinds of instances, the nomination battles become divisive, and can cause internal fissures. Liberal MP Omar Alghabra is the leader's representative on the national board of directors of the party.
