A group, North Central Amazons for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Saturday called on the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka
Onyejeocha, to return to embrace her victory at the tribunal and return to the House of Representatives.
Their advice came barely 72 hours after the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Umuahia, Abia State, declared her winner of the February 25 election for the Isuikwato-Imunneochi Federal Constituency. NCABAT, also known as APC Women Group , in a congratulatory statement by its convener, Lynda Adzuanaga, said although President Bola Tinubu had appointed Onyejeocha as a minister, she belongs to the House of Representatives. She noted that the victory was a win for women.
She added, “It is our deep conviction and belief that she belongs to the Green Chamber at the National Assembly. Our reasons are obvious; we want to see more women at the National Assembly; women with outstanding qualities and experience. There is a significant drop in the number of women representatives from the last general elections; we see this judgment in her favour as an opportunity to make up for what we lost during the last general elections.
“In a National Assembly of limited women and specifically, a paltry 16 women out of the 360 House of Representative members, Hon Onyejeocha, one of our finest, a key player in our first 11 is definitely a sine qua non. We strongly believe that with the return of Hon Onyejeocha to the House of Representatives, more women and people oriented Bills will be introduced and passed into law for the collective good and benefit of all Nigerians.”All rights reserved.
