The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC on Wednesday warned the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, IKEDC and the Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC against flouting its directives on obsolete meters.
DAILY POST recalls that FCCPC had on Tuesday last week ordered the IKEDC and EKEDP to immediately halt the replacement of Unistar prepaid meters due. The order according to the commission followed the alleged refusal of the companies to comply with directives from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC. However, there are reports that the DisCos are making moves to flout the commission's directives.
” The statement clarified that contrary to the rumours being peddled, the approval of new meter prices by the NERC has no connection with the proposed replacement of Unistar meters by IKEDC and EKEDC. According to the statement, the withdrawal or replacement of the Unistar meters would be impossible without compliance with NERC’s Order on Structured Replacement of Faulty and Obsolete End-user Customer Meters in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry .
