Residents of Madagali, a major town in the northern part of Adamawa State which shares borders with Goza in Borno State, have appealed for the quick response of federal authorities after a major bridge in the town collapsed.
DAILY POST gathered Sunday that the Madagali Bridge collapsed completely in the night of Thursday, August 15, after a heavy rain that caused an overflow of the Madagali River over which the bridge was built.
A resident of Madagali, Mathew Maziga, said that Madagali and Goza residents who are most directly affected now suffer much hardship and are waiting hopefully for quick action on the collapsed bridge. Another resident, Suleiman Abubakar, said prices of goods coming from Borno State have further increased in the locality since the collapse of the bridge, as traders now have to bear the extra burden of paying young men to convey goods across the river.
