Kota Kinabalu: Gaya Island’s Turtle Rescue Centre released their 28th rescued Green turtle on Monday, after nursing it for three months.
Named Gaya, the 10-year-old’s freedom was possible thanks to marine resident marine biologist Scott Mayback and his team of experts.Surprisingly, Gaya turned around and started scrambling back to the land after a few strokes when set free – a first for the Centre. It had to be escorted further into the water until it finally swam away.
