The House of Representatives has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the matter of extrajudicial killings by security personnel enforcing the COVID19 restriction. The lower chamber has also urged the President to direct heads of security agencies implicated in the human rights abuses and killing of innocent Nigerians to immediately fish out the perpetrators

The House of Representatives has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the matter of extrajudicial killings by security personnel enforcing the COVID19 restriction.

The House of Peps also directed its committee on Police Affairs, Defence, Interior and Human Rights to investigate the abuses and killings. Moving the motion, Onyejeocha said that 18 persons have been killed by security agents within this lockdown period in Delta, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Katsina and Niger States; according to the National Human Rights Commission .
