Report says 18 killed in South-East during election violence

The Nigeria Election Violence Report has revealed that 18 persons were killed in the South-East during the 2019 general elections.

The report was presented by the Womens Aid Collative, in partnership with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems in Enugu on Monday.

The report recommended the introduction of electronic voting in future elections to mitigate violence. Ochie, who is also a Senior Lecturer at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, said 18 cases of violence were recorded in Enugu State, while 32 of such cases were recorded in Abia State.

Anambra State, according to him, recorded 27 cases of violence, out of which two people were killed and 18 people injured.
