The remains of Esther Okafor, a renowned educationist and author, will be buried in Orumba north LGA of Anambra state on January 4, 2025.

Okafor, a former language arts department head at Federal Polytechnic Oko, authored numerous books on English and theology.

She was born in 1941 to the royal family of Nsetuk Essien Nsie of Eket in Akwa Ibom. She married Benard Okafor, a pianist and voracious collector of books. The author’s educational path unfolded from Eket primary school, through Ogoja secondary school, college of education Uyo, and ultimately Ahmadu Bello University, where she earned a degree in language arts with an upper class division.Her passion for education fuelled a notable career, spanning teaching roles at multiple schools, and culminating as a senior lecturer and department head.

Okafor’s distinguished career, which included post-retirement work at the polytechnic, was complemented by theological studies, yielding multiple distinctions from Redeemed Christian Bible college and Word of Faith Bible Institute.
