The triplets born at Taronga Zoo in December emerged from their nest for the first time last week.

Taronga Zoo has been breeding rare red panda cubs as part of a global breeding program for decades, but had never welcomed triplets before.

"From now on and in the next few weeks we’ll see them come out a lot more in the day, so the public will be able to see them," Haynes said."They’ll start following mum around and learning how to climb and how to eat, especially bamboo." “Because of habitat destruction, their population can become quite fragmented so it’s hard for pandas to meet [each other]," Haynes said.
