Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Adetokunbo Abiru, Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, have called for the dualization of Ikorodu-Itokin Road.The road was constructed in 1975 by Messr. Taylor Woodrow under the regime of General Yakubu Gowon and General Mobolaji Johnson.
Abiru convinced the Senate by highlighting the importance of the two roads to the nation’s economic growth as they serve as access points from other parts of the country: Ogun, Edo, and the northern parts of the country, and also routes to the New Lekki-Ibeju corridor, where there are major refinery, Lagos Deep Seaport, and Free Trade Zone facilities, among others.
The minister assured that design for the dualization would begin soon while the reconstruction continues.
