But for the help of a good Samaritan that pulled the unconscious father of three off the busy road, he would have been run over by speeding trucks, his son, Daniel told our correspondent while recounting the horrifying incident. Daniel said though his father never had any premonition, his mother had persuaded him to work from home on that day.
On October 29, 2020, two persons were reported to have lost their lives in an accident involving a fuel truck and a speeding motorcycle laden with bags of maize in the Oke Ureje area of Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.Several Nigerians have nasty experiences about the recklessness of many okada riders on Nigerian roads. Sadly, the lives of those involved in bike accidents have not remained the same.
“My wife hasn’t stopped crying over my condition and I have not seen my children since the accident occurred. I was managing my family with my income as a transporter before this happened to me. I don’t know how they will survive now,” he lamented. “I use crutches now. Those mallams that ride motorcycles are too reckless. They are not usually careful when driving. They are more involved in okada accidents than other riders and when they cause accidents, they usually survive without a scratch and flee.” she added.
The marketing communications professional also said he had to deal with “post-traumatic brain contusion/concussion, left blow out fracture, multiple-base of the skull and left craniofacial fractures involving left maxillary walls, left zygoma, left nasal bone and left craniofacial soft tissue contusion with haematoma,” as a cranial scan he underwent revealed.
