realme is real fast in getting the new SoC for its devices 👀 realme MediaTekDimensity1080 TechNave
Yesterday, we reported on MediaTek’s unveiling of its new mid-tier mobile chipset, the Dimensity 1080. Not long after the announcement by Mediatek, we’ve already gotten confirmation from realme VP Madhav Sheth that the SoC will be powering new realme devices by the end of the year.
Taking to his official Twitter account, Sheth teased that his company will be utilising the new Dimensity 1080 SoC on upcoming realme devices this year. However, he did not reveal any specific information, including what realme devices will get the new chipset or when will they be released. Given that the SoC was just announced yesterday and there are less than 3 months left until we enter 2023, it’s safe to say that realme has been planning with MediaTek for quite some time to create a Dimensity 1080-powered device. In case you missed it, the new mid-tier chipset is based on the 6nm process and comes with an octa-core CPU comprising two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.6GHz.
The chipset also provides sub-6GHz 5G and WiFi 6 connectivity, a Mali-G68 GPU and support for image processing from a 200MP camera. Sounds like a pretty capable mid-range chip and can’t wait for it to be utilised by realme and other manufacturers. What do you guys think?
