In a democracy, the government is accountable to the people, to whom it owes its existence. However, no matter how transparent, accessible and well-intentioned a government may be, for various reasons and interests, it still has to contend with opposing views from time to time. This, of course, is the beauty of democracy.

On Saturday, May 30, 2020, the governor kicked off the construction of the Lekki Regional Road. The 10km long Regional Road takes off at the Victoria Garden City and terminates at Freedom Road, Lekki Scheme1. The road, upon completion, would serve as an alternative to the Lekki-Epe Expressway, which is already very congested and is at present the only road serving the Lekki sub-region.

Work is equally ongoing, in conjunction with Access Bank, upgrading of Oniru network of roads –Muri Okunola Extension, Ligali Ayorinde, Akin Olugbade along with seven major junctions all in Iru –Victoria Island Local Council Development Area, is also on course. Presently, the project is at 65% completion and will on completion mitigate the gridlock associated with the corridor and improve connectivity.

Similarly, in the Ikorodu area, several road projects are ongoing. For instance, the rehabilitation/upgrading of the Agric-Isawo Road into a four-lane dual carriageway is on course. It was conceived to link Ikorodu with the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway through Arepo in Ogun State.
