BREAKING: Queenslanders remain on alert but now have their sights set on the next vaccine milestone – and the new freedoms it will bring.
The Sunshine State hit 70 per cent double-dose vaccinations – ahead of the original scheduled November 19 – with certain border rules expected to be eased imminently.
This includes allowing stranded Queenslanders to fly back and complete their 14-day quarantine period at home, instead of in hotel quarantine. The next milestone is the 80 per cent double-dose vaccination, which the state is expected to reach on December 17. Infectious disease expert Dr Paul Griffin told breakfast TV audiences on Monday the strong uptick in vaccination meant this target was also likely to be reached early, even as soon as December 6.
“Everyone who gets vaccinated contributes and will contribute to bringing forward the opening date,” Dr Griffin said.
