Leader of the Ministerial task force committee on covid-19, Dr Nasiru Gwarzo, on Tuesday bemoaned the failure of Gombe State to carry out coronavirus test.
He said the purpose of his delegation’s visit was in continuation of the directive of the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, in line with the President’s approval that all the states should be supported.
He said, “Lack of testing facility in the state is a joint Gombe State and Federal Government issue therefore we will take back this message that it is too strategic to leave Gombe State without a testing capacity. Initially they were going to Abuja, later to VON to make things easy. “To our sad discovery that over 280 samples are still pending is not good, imagine waiting for a result for days to know if you have COVID-19 or not?. It is a difficult moment. We have noticed that it takes five to seven days to get result which is another difficult moment for people waiting for their result.
Gwarzo added that more additional accommodation should be made for doctors and nurses on the front line taking care of patients, to prevent them from going back home during high risk active management of cases. All rights reserved.
