The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has challenged the House of Representatives Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development to present any evidence of corruption against her in court. This is contained in a statement by an aide to the minister, Musa Abdulrahaman, on Thursday in Abuja.
In the statement, the minister said all payments for contracts and project approvals in the Ministry followed established civil service regulations.
reports that the committee chaired by Kafilat Ogbara, had summoned the minister over alleged corruption in her Ministry. The committee is investigating the alleged diversion of N1.5 billion earmarked for the payment of contractors. Some contractors had petitioned the committee, alleging non-payment for contracts they had executed for the Ministry. During the hearing on Tuesday, members of the committee and the minister engaged in a heated argument on the subject.
