A social critic, Aisha Yesufu has told the Department of State Services, DSS, to channel its resources on gathering intelligence about kidnappers, terrorists and unknown gunmen. Her response followed the claim by the DSS that it had uncovered the sponsors and funders of the proposed nationwide protest against economic hardship and bad governance.
The DSS , in a statement on Thursday by Peter Afunanya, its spokesperson, described the motive behind the protest as political. He warned the organisers of the planned protests against proceeding with it. According to the statement, the DSS had uncovered a plan by some criminal elements to hijack the protest and cause unrest in the country.
However, Yesufu, in a post on her X handle on Friday, said that the failure of the DSS to gather intelligence on terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and unknown gunmen greatly contributed to the hunger in the land. She said: 'DSS should counsel itself on its failure to gather intelligence on the terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and unknown gunmen that have terrorized the nation and forced farmers to flee their farms which has greatly contributed to the hunger in the land.
