This will also apply to political parties, which will have to provide means for individuals to opt out of their personal information being used or from receiving targeted advertising from a political entity.Media companies will need to ensure they have privacy standards overseen by a recognised oversight body for their journalists to continue to enjoy the exemption for their news-gathering activities.
