The prices of rice, a major staple food for Nigerians, increased by 134.81 per cent in the past year.

This is contained in the Selected Food Prices Watch for February 2024 released by the National Bureau of Statistics yesterday.

On a month-on-month basis, it increased by 11.93 per cent, from N901.94 in January 2024 to N1009.56 in February 2024. National Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission , Dr Vincent Olatunji, shed light on the significance of data protection in the digital economy at the pre-launch of the National Privacy Awareness Campaign.

Joint efforts are ongoing by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to curb financial crimes in the banking sector of the economy.
