A presidential aide in Nigeria is being sued by his estranged wife for custody of their child. The wife alleges abuse, abandonment, and denial of access to their son.

A presidential aide , Ibidapo Oyewole, is facing legal action from his estranged wife, Dooshima Oyewole, over the custody of their child. Dooshima filed an application in the Family Court of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, seeking joint legal and physical custody of their son, along with child maintenance. She alleges that Oyewole has denied her access to their child.

\In a detailed 37-paragraph affidavit, Dooshima outlines the history of their marriage, which began in 2011. She describes the challenges she faced during their years of trying to conceive, including undergoing multiple invasive fertility treatments in Abuja, Lagos, and the United Kingdom. Dooshima claims that she was led to believe the cause of their infertility lay with her and endured significant physical, emotional, and financial abuse from Oyewole during this time. She secured funding for treatments from the British government, which ultimately revealed that the primary cause of their infertility was Oligoasthenoteratozoospermia, a condition likely known to Oyewole from his previous marriage. \Dooshima alleges that Oyewole abandoned her and their unborn child when she was pregnant in the United Kingdom, choosing to relocate to Nigeria for professional opportunities. She claims he left her in the midst of labor, causing her to develop life-threatening complications and resulting in the premature birth of their son. Dooshima asserts that she was the primary caregiver for their child and that Oyewole only visited twice during the first few years of their son's life. She further describes an incident in December 2021, where Oyewole physically assaulted her in front of his mother, forcing her to flee their home and leaving her without access to their child.
