Chief Raymond Dokpesi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and founder of DAAR Communications Plc, died in a hospital in Abuja yesterday.
“The Dokpesi family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. We ask that you keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of our patriarch.
He said, “The death of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi is a blow to the media industry where he has played pioneering roles in private broadcasting. His pacesetting investment in the industry is an inspiration to many who come after him. National publicity secretary of PDP, Hon Debo Ologunagba said Dokpesi was an exceptionally committed and courageous nationalist, an insightful and loyal party man, a brilliant and resourceful entrepreneur who was steadfast in his selfless contributions towards the unity, stability and development of our great party and the nation at large.
Atiku, in a statement signed by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, noted that the late Dokpesi was a trailblazer who reshaped the Nigerian business landscape in every sphere of his endeavour. The former Vice President said that he enjoyed a close relationship with the late Dokpesi, and the news of his death came to him as a rude shock.
In a statement, the governor said Chief Dopkesi was an illustrious son of Edo State who recorded indelible achievements that marked him out as one of Nigeria’s most impactful media executives.
