The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced planned power outages in several areas of Abuja this weekend due to scheduled maintenance at two transmission substations.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria ( TCN ) has announced that scheduled maintenance work at two transmission substations will result in power outages in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) this weekend. On Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9 am to 1 pm, maintenance will be carried out on a 60MVA power transformer and its associated switchgears at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation.

This will cause a four-hour power interruption for customers in Gwagwalada and its environs. On Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 9 am to 10 pm, maintenance work will be performed on one of the 60MVA power transformers at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation. This will result in power outages in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp. TCN apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause, particularly during the holiday season. However, the company emphasizes that the maintenance is essential for optimal power equipment performance
