Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Sagir Musa, is to thoroughly investigate the activities, actions and inactions of the Nigerian Army personnel in all states that alleged one infraction, wrongdoing or the other.

The statement said the Chief of Administration ,Major General KAY Isiyaku, inaugurated the committee that had since begun work, on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff,COAS, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai,in Abuja with a charge to the committee to carry out its duties objectively, fairly and transparently in line with its terms of reference.

The committee, the statement said, was expected to submit its findings within six weeks from the day of inauguration. The statement read in full:”As a way of ensuring that Nigerian Army troops deployed for election security duties during the 2019 general elections conducted themselves within laid down rules of engagement and the Code of Conduct, the Nigerian Army has set up a 9-member investigative committee, headed by Major General TA Gagariga with Brig. Gen. JM Ali, Brig. Gen GO Adeshina.

Brig Gen MA Obari, Col AT Bitiyong, Col A Tanko and Col WA Bakare as members and Lt Col PAJ Ebuk as Secretary to investigate all allegations of misconduct against the Nigerian Army during the just concluded general elections. “The committee is to submit its report not later than March 31, 2019.
