Police in Adamawa State said they had arrested 40-year-old Barnabas Abduneza in connection with the killing of a child in the state.

Abduneza, a resident of Kpasham village, Demsa local government area, was arrested following a reliable information according to the police source.

The deceased, name withheld and her mother were allegedly attacked on September 29, 2022 in Kadamti village, leading her death and injury to the mother. “Following the attack of a woman and her child in Kadamti village of Numan local government area on 29/9/2022 which resulted in the death of the baby and severe injury to the mother, the command’s operatives attached to Numan Division and good Samaritans swung into action and apprehended one man in connection with the offence.

“The suspect, Barnabas Abduneza 40 years, a resident of Kpasham village, Demsa local government area was arrested following credible and reliable information,” the police said. The state commissioner of police, Sikiru Akande, commended the divisional police officer in Numan, men of Operation Farauta and people of Numan for preventing the man from escaping arrest and directed the deputy commissioner of police in charge of CID to take over investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.
