The police in Rivers State have launched a manhunt for some suspected kidnappers, who fled after a failed attempt to abduct passengers in a commercial bus on the Okehi/Igbdo Road in the Etche Local Go

vernment Area of the state.

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Okehi Police Division responded to a distress call and rescued passengers in the bus, killing three of the hoodlums during a gun battle on Sunday. The spokesman for the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, said some of the criminals fled with gunshot wounds and that the state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, immediately ordered a manhunt for the hoodlums.

Omoni said in a statement, “The CP has launched a serious manhunt for other members of the gang, who fled. We appeal to the public to report anybody with gunshot wounds to the nearest police station. “The road has been free since yesterday and there has been increased police presence in that area to give motorists and other road users a renewed sense of safety and security.”All rights reserved.
