A police inspector in Jos, Nigeria, was brutally assaulted while transporting seized drugs to the station. The suspect, apprehended earlier with a bag of narcotics, returned with accomplices and launched the attack.

A police inspector, Ikale Muhammed, was severely injured in an attack by a suspect and his accomplices in Jos North LGA of Plateau state. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday while Inspector Muhammed was transporting hard drugs seized from a suspect to the police station.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focusing on the Lake Chad region, reported that two police officers from ‘C’ Division apprehended a suspect found in possession of hard drugs around Polo roundabout. The suspect, upon sighting the officers, fled, abandoning a bag containing hard drugs and other substances believed to be Indian hemp. He escaped into the Jenta Adamu area of Jos North LGA. Sources indicated that the suspect returned shortly after, accompanied by a group of motorcycle riders, to attack the officers who were already on their way to the station with the recovered exhibits. During the assault, Inspector Muhammed sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to Bingham University Teaching Hospital for treatment
