“The Nigerian Constitution and other criminal laws prohibit the unlawful possession of weapons,” the statement reads.“The command will not tolerate any act that threatens public peace under the guise of celebration or communal rivalry.” He added that the command has also imposed a ban on motorcycle operations from 7pm to 6am, conveying more than one passenger, and the use of loud vehicle horns on motorcycles.

The police spokesperson urged traditional rulers, community leaders, event organisers, and the motorcycle riders association to sensitise their members about the new rules.Abdullahi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting citizens’ rights, adding that it will act decisively against any conduct that poses a threat to lives or public order.

“Citizens are also encouraged to report individuals or groups engaging in such unlawful displays to the nearest police station,” Abdullahi added.
