The Osun police command has arrested one Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe, a 28-year-old man, for “inciting ethnic violence” on Twitter.
On May 18, Adekusibe, via his Twitter handle @GideonAdekusibe, called for violence against the Igbo ethnic group. “Let’s kill all the Igbos. Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands. I hate these people with passion. They are violent people. They are worst. They hate us. Let’s hate them without holding back,” Adekusibe had written on Twitter.AdvertisementIn a statement on Friday, the police said the Twitter user was arrested for violating “social media policy on hate speech”.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime, and he will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation. “We have done what is needful on this matter.
