Police arrest man, two others over rape of step-daughter, corps member

The Police Command in Akwa Ibom State has arrested three suspects for different cases of defiling minors.Police Relations Officer, CSP Nnudam Fredrick, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.Police said the indigene of Odot 1 village in Nsit Atai LGA, chased the victim out of the house when he discovered that she was pregnant.

The statement added that a corps member on primary assignment in Uyo was gang-raped by two persons, Ofonime Essien and Frank Okon, when she went to charge her phone in their house.Similarly, one Ekemini Asuquo, 38, confessed that he lured a 14-year-old girl with N1,500 to a hotel where he raped her. The Police recalled that Monday, June 8, 2020 at about 4:30p.m, operatives at Abak arrested the suspect of No.7 Afaha Obong/Etim Ekpo, Abak.

Asuquo, who claimed to be a tailor, on the same day at about 1:30p.m, took the girl to Celebrity Hotel, Abak. “He forcefully had carnal knowledge of her and thereafter snatched the said money from the victim. The suspect also threatened to kill the victim if she reports the incident to the police,” the PPRO said.
