The Police in Lagos have arrested a lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Kadiri Babalola, for alleged sexual abuse of a 20-year-old undergraduate.
The student was reported to have visited Babalola, of the Department of Botany, in his office on August 16, to address some issues concerning her results.
The case was reported to the Gender Unit of the state Police Command through the Officer in Charge . Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, issued a warrant of arrest for Babalola through the state High Court, while the Vice Chancellor, Prof Folashade Ogunsola, was given seven days to produce the suspect.
This is coming less than a month after female students of the University of Calabar Law faculty, staged a protest within the school premises against alleged sexual harassment and intimidation by the Dean, Prof. Cyril Ndifon.
