Police arrest cult/robbery gang members after shootout in Benue vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
—Benue State Police Command has smashed an eight-man gang suspected to be involved in recent cult related attacks, killings and robberies in Otukpo and its environs in the Benue South district, after a gun battle.
According to him, “they are suspected to be involved in several cases of armed robbery and culpable homicide. In one of the robbery cases, they engaged our men in a shoot-out along Otukpo-Ado road.“They were, however, arrested and after an on the spot search, two locally made pistols, two expended cartridges, one AK-47 bayonet and one camouflage shirt was recovered from them,” he said.
Bishi explained that “members of the gang were arrested after a distress call from a victim, who said the gang blocked the road along Abakwa in Buruku Local Government Area where they were robbing motorists of their belongings. Our officers rushed to the scene and sighted the robbers who took to their heels.
