The police and army in a joint operation have repelled an attack on a police station by the Islamic State of West African Province in Jakana, Kaga LGA of Borno state.
According to Zagazola Makama, the insurgents attacked the police outpost in the early hours of Saturday around 2:30 am.Sources said police officers and troops of the 29 task force brigade – a fighting patrol – swiftly responded to the attack which resulted in a heavy gun battle which lasted for about 30 minutes.A source said the insurgents were forced to flee after they were overwhelmed by the troops.
The source said no casualty was recorded in the encounter, adding that a bulletproof vest and two magazines were recovered from the insurgents.an attack by ISWAP on Kunnari, a village housing a military base in Buratai town, killing 10 insurgents.
