The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said it will no longer comment on the criticisms hurled against the police organization after the filing of criminal charges against Vice President Leni Robredo and 34 others over the Ang Totoong Narco-list videos.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Kim Molitas, PNP deputy spokesperson, said it would be best to let the investigation, that will be undertaken by the Department of Justice , take its natural course.
Molitas refused to address the criticisms against the PNP after it warranted the filing of charges based on the sworn affidavit of Peter Joemel Advincula alias Bikoy, who introduced himself as the hooded figure behind the Ang Totoong Narcolist videos.Robredo earlier said that the filing of charges were nothing but “plain and simple harrasment.”
Meanwhile, Trillanes said “the filing of cases against key members of the opposition are clear acts of political persecution and harrasment by the Duterte administration meant to stifle democratic dissent.” The Ang Totoong Narcolist, narrated by the hooded figure known as Bikoy, is a five-part series which featured the alleged involvement of President Duterte’s family and close allies to the illegal drug trade.
Advincula had also been facing charges for estafa and large-scale illegal recruitment in La Trinidad, Benguet and Baguio City.Advincula, who again claimed he was receiving death threats, now said his claims against the President were just made-up to discredit and bring down the government.
