This payment will be made automatically to eligible individuals in December, with no need for an application. If recipients notice an unfamiliar deposit or are puzzled by it, it's likely the Christmas Bonus. Other benefits that make one eligible for this bonus encompass Carer Support Payment, Child Disability Payment, and Incapacity Benefit.Although the bonus may offer a modest uplift for those struggling financially, campaigners have voiced criticism over the unchanging amount, which has remained at £10 despite rising inflation and living costs.
The Government explains: "The Christmas Bonus is a one-off tax-free £10 payment made before Christmas, paid to people who get certain benefits in the qualifying week. This is normally the first full week of December.", reports Birmingham Live.They continued, specifying that recipients must also be receiving at least one of the listed benefits during the 'qualifying week', typically the first full week of December.
