Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, has sworn in six new judges for the state high court and customary court of appeal.
The judges took the oath of office on Monday at the government house in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
The new high court judges are Kor Vincent Tersoo, Ikwulono Maigida Maimuna, Adagba Nguhemen Julie, and Tor Damian Tersugh, while the customary court of appeal judges are Onche Ogah Inalegwu and Igba Theophilus Terhile. Alia urged the new judges to be “impartial arbiters, defenders of justice, protectors of the Constitution, and dispense justice without fear”.The governor said the people of the state look up to the judges to adhere to the principles of fairness, equity, and a deep sense of humanity.
“Judges are the guardians of justice, ensuring that the rights and liberties of all individuals are protected and upheld,” he said. “They also play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our legal system and ensuring that justice is served.“We shall continue to uphold the constitutional provisions on the rule of law and the principles of separation of powers.”‘Police acted on petition after it was withdrawn’ — Air Peace speaks on Ajaero’s arrest
