The Philippines ranks 89th out of 138 countries in terms of mobile speed.
Improvement in internet speed is largely attributed to this development as telecommunications firms are able to fast-track infrastructure projects necessary in boosting services and connectivity, the National Telecommunications Commission said. The Ookla Speedtest Global Index report for December 2021 was based on median rather than mean download speed. In refining its data, Ookla explained that median was a measure that captured the typical user’s experience and that presenting the median download speed best reflects the speeds a user is likely to achieve in a market.
It added that in statistical terms, the median was less likely to be influenced by outliers than the mean.
