Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, has consoled the Flying Eagles after they were knocked out of the 2023 U-20 World Cup in the quarter-finals by South Korea on Sunday evening.

“Heads up, Flying Eagles!” Peserio wrote on Twitter.

“What you have shown in this world cup makes Nigerian people proud. They fought and honoured to the end and earned a place among the top 8 teams in the World.” Nigeria’s closest attempt at winning the U-20 World Cup was the 2-1 final loss to Argentina in 2005 and the 2-0 defeat to Portugal in the final of the 1989 edition in Saudi Arabia.

The Flying Eagles will have to wait for at least two more years to take another shot at the tournament’s title again. All rights reserved.
