The Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) has announced the price of nomination and expression of interest forms for the Anambra governorship election at N40 million. This decision was conveyed in a letter from Umar Bature, the PDP national organizing secretary, to the party's Chairperson in Anambra State, Chidi Chidebe. Bature explained that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) had approved the timetable and schedule of activities for the upcoming Anambra governorship election.
The NWC determined that the nomination form would cost N35 million and the expression of interest form N5 million. However, the party clarified that, according to its constitution, female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities are exempt from paying for nomination forms. Additionally, youths below 40 years of age are required to purchase only the expression of interest form and will receive a 50 percent discount on the nomination form. Bature announced that nomination and expression of interest forms will be available for purchase from February 24th to March 5th. The screening of aspirants is scheduled for March 11th, with ward congresses taking place on March 20th, local government area congresses on March 27th, and the party primaries on April 5th. Bature instructed the state party chairperson to initiate preparations for the smooth and successful conduct of the congresses in accordance with the PDP constitution and guidelines.
