The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Akure South Chapter, on Friday accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of attacking its members during a ward meeting in Akure, Ondo State capital.
The Secretary of the PDP Caretaker Committee in the local government, Sunday Ogedengbe, disclosed that thugs numbering about 13 invaded the venue of the meeting at Odopetu ward while chanting the campaign slogan of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Ogedengbe stressed that the ugly trend posed a threat to the forthcoming November 16 governorship election in the state.
'This incident is both pathetic and despicable, especially from a party claiming to be popular and accepted by the electorate. 'The actions of these miscreants are not only condemnable but also pose a serious threat to the peaceful and credible conduct of free and fair governorship elections in the state,' he added.
