Patients lament as Ekiti doctors’ strike continues
The ongoing indefinite strike embarked upon by the doctors in Ekiti State has crippled heathcare service delivery in the 19 General Hospitals, three Specialist Hospitals and over 100 Healthcare Centres in the state.
At the Primary Healthcare Centre in Okeyinmi, and Oba Adejugbe General Hospital both in Ado-Ekiti metropolis, many patients were seen stranded because there were no doctors to attend to them. A patient on admission who spoke with our reporter, lamented the inability of the sick to access treatment in the hospital, saying the doctors had abandoned their ward round and routine check.
Also, a patient, at the Primary Healthcare Centre in Okeyinmi, lamented that the strike of the doctors was already having effects on the patients.
