Alleged intimidation of voters by the Nigerian militaryand policemen as well as vote buying, reportedly marred the Saturday's supplementary elections in Sokoto State leaving so many voters disenfranchised, SaharaReporters has been told. The intimidation was said to have been carried out by some leaders of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), using the army and the police and some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) too.

"A PDP serving House of Representatives member for Sokoto North and South constituency, Abubakar Abdullahi was ambushed and beaten at his polling unit by APC area boys suspected to work under on the orders of the party leaders in Sokoto. They hauled stones at him and his friends.
"I was going to my local government which is in Sokoto South senatorial district from the city. We were eventually allowed to go when voting was almost over. It was a terrible situation. The disturbing thing about the elections is the involvement of security personnel police and army who displayed high level of undemocratic attitude during the elections."
