Parma’s storm-damaged Byers Field closed until further notice

Yet another casualty of last week’s wicked storm is a damaged Byers Field at Robert M. Boulton Stadium.

“It sort of pulled away from the bleachers, which is obviously a pretty significant safety concern,” Smialek said. While the relatively new scoreboard came out of the storm unscathed, the field’s lighting had some damage. “It’s difficult, because I’ve always believed -- especially for public schools -- Friday night lights are such an important part of our culture,” Smialek said.
