Members of the House of Representatives panel and Nigeria Customs Service on Thursday traded tackles over the alleged killing of five indigenes of Iseyin
The officers of the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, led by the Assistant Legal Adviser, Umar Lawal had denied a medical doctor’s report on the cause of death of one victim of the Iseyin killing in Oyo State. The Committee was mandated to look into the alleged killing of citizens of Iseyin in Oyo State through a resolution that was adopted in the green Chambers.
The Committee which was chaired by Leke Abejide was shocked at the Custom’s outright denial despite the Iseyin community leader, Kasaki Tijani’s earlier submission which was in consonance with the Committee’s report.“We are not saying customs or any other government agency should not do its job, but they came into the town to shoot innocent people.“The officers came across all 50 towns before coming to Isheyin, more than 200 km from the border.
