The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says youths, women, and students account for the highest number of registered voters.

The total number of newly registered voters in Nigeria is 9,518,188, according to Mahmood Yakubu, INEC’s chairman. “In terms of demographic distribution, 7.2 million new voters or 76.5% are young people between 18-34 years, while there is a slightly higher number of female than male voters,” Yakubu said.Earlier in September, the commission had said there was a recentyouth turnout for the continuous voter registration exercise leading to over two million new voters in one month.
