He also decried failure of the 23 council areas of the State to remit the backlog of Pay-As-You-Earn remittances and withholding taxes between 2013 and 2014, while plans have been concluded to audit the councils from 2015 to 2018 financial years. Abubakar stated this yesterday when a group of civil society organisations under the aegis of Tax Justice and Governance Platform visited him in Kaduna yesterday.

The leader of that team, Rebecca Sako-John, briefed the KADIRS boss on the objectives of the group and areas of concern, which include sensitising people on their tax responsibilities and what they should expect in return and campaigning fair tax in the state through partnership with the agency.
