Osun to recruit 2,000 food vendors to enhance its school feeding programme, even as the Alaafin of Oyo urges Governor Gboyega Oyetola to boost the state’s IGR in order to raise enough funds to carry out his laudable programmes.
Programme officer of the scheme, Mrs. Olaniyan Kehinde, disclosed this during an interaction with applicants at the O’Meals secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.She commended the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for opening another window of employment for women in the state.
Mrs. Olaniyan, who lauded the efforts of the present administration in sustaining the scheme, said it would further help to empower women.She acknowledged the Oyetola administration’s genuine commitment to women and children development since assumption office. Noting that the scheme had helped to banish unemployment and poverty among women, Olaniyan described the success recorded since the establishment of the scheme as unprecedented, particularly in alleviating poverty in the society.
Meanwhile, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has urged Oyetola to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.To the monarch, this is the only way to enable the governor raise enough funds to carry out his laudable programmes for the state.The monarch spoke during a visit to the governor at his Iragbiji hometown in Boripe Council of Osun.
With the governor to receive the Alaafin were the Akinrun of Ikirun, Oba Abdul-Rauf Adedeji; Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Olabomi; Elende of Eko-Ende, Oba Abdul-Rauf Olaniyan and Olororuwo of Ororuwo, Oba Kamorudeen Adeyanju.
He said: “You have to use your wealth of experience in administrative, financial and political sectors to improve on the revenue base of the state.“You might know that I am fully aware of the significant role you played to boost the revenue profile of Lagos State.
