The Ohio State University students who live off campus are wondering why they did not receive a safety alert from the university aboutSome students said the sound of gunshots woke them up Sunday morning, just after 8 a.m.with Asante Miller .
After the standoff, Maier said she and her roommate discussed how they did not receive any type of alert from the University. "The incident was evaluated for a Buckeye Alert, and due to the location and other details, it did not meet the criteria for a Buckeye Alert," wrote a University representative.
Sunday morning's incident started about a block and a half from a dorm on campus on Worthington Street. Google Maps marks the distance from a door to the dorm to the house where police responded as 500 feet. Students also pointed out that the scene spanned several streets.
