Seven Musings: Next Maple Leafs GM only has one thing to figure out. It all has to do with Auston Matthews
? Nylander is easily traded. He has a 10-team no-trade clause that kicks in July 1. Marner is signed for longer, but like Matthews, has a no-movement clause kicking in July 1.Maybe it’s more tantalizing to run them all back, and see if they can go further than the second round. Let’s remember, they’re barely mid-career, just entering the prime of their playing lives.
The key question over the next two months isn’t so much who is going to be the next Maple Leafs GM? It’s what’s he going to do with Matthews?and I’ll answer it in Friday’s Mailbag. It’s Tuesday Museday. Here are the seven playoff musings. 1. Eric Wellwood deserves some attention for an AHL level job, possibly the Marlies, for the work he’s done with the Newfoundland Growlers. The Growlers are at home Tuesday night heading into Game 6 of the Kelly Cup semifinals, hoping to force a Game 7. The Growlers made it to the semis last year, as well, Wellwood’s first coaching the ECHL team.will be wide and broad, for what is a coveted AHL coaching gig.
